True but the models aren’t even showing anything close to developing for 2 weeks. If that holds, you’re getting to end of august with no activity which would be significant
NOPE.
There are many seasons where nothing is showing on the models heading into mid-late August then all of a sudden everything lights up, like a switch being flipped. This is nothing new. If nothing forms at all in the next two weeks, you'll have my attention.

YouTube meteorologist said not going to happen until September.

Hurricane Season Showing No Signs of Life, CSU LOWERS Total Number Of Storms...
Models and satellite views continue to show no signs of tropical activity in the Atlantic basin for the next 10-14 days. Colorado State University today lowered their total number of named storms from 20 down to 18. Since we have had 3 so far (Colin wasted name), that means in the next two months we'll have to see 17 storms to reach those numbers. Each day we see nothing happening, I'm thinking total numbers could struggle to reach 10-12.

It's still a good thing that we might not see that late August storm which can feed off the mega warm energy in the Gulf
Katrina and Ida and most of the recent storms that affected Baton Rouge area were around that time so I will gladly take avoiding a big storm like that around end of Aug

Come on, OP. It’s like a no-hitter in baseball. You aren’t supposed to talk about it.

Very intense Saharan Air Layer is keeping it quiet right now.

Thanks for the update, I gave you a mercy upvote because I don’t follow the tropics all that closely

August 27 is the date that changed things for us LC baws.
For nearly 15 years we cursed the name Rita, only to see how bad that bitch Laura was.
Never wish to experience that again.
God bless all you baws and bawettes on the coast.

Since Delta started this thread this morning, ensembles have started fairly consistently picking up on a Cape Verde storm. Even the GFS operational has it now. So, there's something to at least watch now.
