Über can drop off, but not pick up at MSY. Only the $75 uber black can pickup.

This makes me hate cabbies even more than I already do.

They can't pick you up the airport......yet.

Uber drivers are one step closer to being able to pick up passengers at the airport after the board overseeing Louis Armstrong International Airport voted Thursday (March 17) to move forward with a new fee structure for non-taxi transportation providers. Airport officials and providers still need to agree over how high that fee will be before pick-ups start.

Uber drivers can currently drop passengers off at the airport. Travelers cannot use the app to hail a ride from the airport, however.

Cab Co's in NOLA need to die a slow painful death. Thank the Lord for Uber in this city.

Great, so it will still be flat rate and not based on destination

lets possibly save $10 and hop the fence then cross a major highway but the surge could be on and pay more

This is what I want to do once I start my vacation. I would call you a cheap dick if I were traveling with you.

Easier to sneak in Jazzfest to save money.

Cab at MSY is 36 dollars plus tip.
Uber can't pick up there at the moment but the price isn't that different anyway.
I travel a lot for work and I take Uber to the airport (35 bucks) and cab back home (36.00)

walking across the street to the gas station will probably take 20 minutes plus you have to cross 6 lanes of airline highway. pick your poison I guess.

1) I didn't say to walk or cross any street, I said to get on a free hotel shuttle. In fact, there's a 24 hour shuttle that will drive you right to that Hilton in your picture.

2) It could possibly save $20-30 depending on where you are going. Again, it's variable.

3) if it's surge pricing, I'd just jump in a cab it's not like you don't know that beforehand

take any free hotel shuttle you see. Call Uber to hotel you arrived at.

Profit.

Too much time and work.

Instead, move your pickup icon to the location across the street and summon Uber. After your driver accepts, call him and advise you're still at the airport and whether he can pick you up. He will do it without the extra charge because that surcharge does not go to him anyway. Since he is not driving a marked cab, he knows he'll get away with it and he knows he's getting a fare that he otherwise would not have gotten.

You're basically just moving the icon outside the surcharge zone to circumvent the charge.

Figures the airport is looking at ways to extort more more off every single things that touches travel.
