Princess Diana died August 31, 1997. I know a guy whose costume 60 days later was Princess Diana after the car wreck, and it was bloody.
People thought it was a bold choice, but nobody got upset or attacked him.
If he went with Saint Charlie this year, his results may differ.

You're absolutely right. Just like no joke is unacceptable if it's funny. There's a German I follow and 1/3 of his act is involving things with his right arm and "NEIN!." It's funny. The holocaust jokes on TD usually aren't funny, but some of them are, and I laugh. That's what jokes are supposed to do.
I think the UGA kid missed the part of the assignment that gave him some sort of irony to add levity to the situation and help people get a joke out of it. Some audiences are more sophisticated and can see nuance, but UGA undergrads are not that audience.

If some fan of Charlies beat the shite out of them i wouldn't bat an eye. Yeah to me it's worse than the nazi uniform. Too soon and not funny. Making fun of a tragedy is worse then dressing as a nazi.
