There are plenty of reasons to avoid it, but Abdul Jabbarjaw and the yeti bombers aren't one of them. That could have just as well been done in any large city. Also, looks like the cops reacted to it about as swiftly as can be expected.

I wasnt the kind of person to be on bourbon at 3am anyway.

Same. We don't actively avoid Nola, but the things that used to draw us there (Mardi Gras, gambling, Saints, day drinking all day) we just don't really do anymore.

I wouldn't drive 120 miles to go eat somewhere. I would like to do the WWII History museum at some point though. We've never been.

New Orleans has 3 types of neighborhoods:
One gun
Two gun, and
Three gun neighborhoods.

tbh I grew up saying NOPD stood for ‘not our problem dude’ but I was very proud and surprised at the videos showing the cops run towards the scene and the ones that accosted the terrorist on bourbon st.

They did what they needed to do at the exact time they should’ve, acting like true heroes.

Nah. shite like this can happen anywhere. Will it keep you from going to wherever it happened up north a few years ago? Paris? Anywhere?

The truth is that these incidents are extremely rare (even more rare than school shootings.)

Not at all. The locals have kept me out of that place for the last ten years.

I am supposed to return to work tomorrow and the office is right there a few blocks away. I’m toying with remoting. I don’t think there will be more unless an unfound ied somehow goes off bc I haven’t seen where these terrorists return to same spot next day. But it will be a mess and I’ll be in it. I’m one to always go in, but don’t know what to do. Boss hasn’t sent an email.

The issue with many here with NOLA is not this type of incident. This is pretty specific and out of character in my view for the type of violance most who stay away would stay away for.

Personally, it won't keep me from going. I know the issues with New Orleans, but there are places to go and things to do that I still love to do in New Orleans, and I'll still go on my terms and mind the when, where's and how's to make it enjoyable on those terms.

A guy from Houston comes to New Orleans and kills at least 15 people, and all the predictable anti-NOLA BS starts.

Touche' - I still like to go - again on my terms, which is where, when and how I want to. i understand those who don't want to, I'm not asking to them to.

I don’t think for me it’s about Nola in general. It’s the next 2 works days and being in the crosshairs of the mess. I work in the city, but don’t have a desire to do things there. I would though if something came up.
