Traffic cameras and fines associated with them violate the Bill of Rights and due process. They are fining a vehicle vs a person. They are 100% unconstitutional.

So it's the person that should be fined?

I seem to remember the state was going to install timing devices to time your travel across the basin bridge. Does anyone know of a system in use anywhere else in the country that times a vehicle's speed across a long distance??

The DOTD website states “install new speed limit signs and radar speed detection devices”. To me this seems like they are only going to install speed cameras. Therefore, just drive the speed limit pass the cameras and floor it across the rest of the bridge.

The fines are going to have to be voluntary unless they want to take the cameras down within a month

The big rigs not adhering to the no passing law is the major reason for wrecks on the bridge

No.
Idiots that don't know how to drive in a stright line is the reason.

Anyone who gets in a wreck on the basin bridge is either an idiot that shouldn't be driving, or was hit by an idiot that shouldn't be driving.

and the reason wrecks happen is b/c some people are going 55, and others are going 80.
If they wanted to reduce the wrecks, then make the speed limit 75 and enforce that everyone goes 75. If you go below 70, get a ticket. If you go above 80, get a ticket.

If everyone put there cruise control at 75 on that bridge, there would be no accidents.

I noticed cameras up on the beginning and end of the eastbound lane. Noticed a camera at the beginning of the westbound Atchafalaya Basin bridge but not the end. Cameras were facing in a way that would capture your license plate when you pass them. It was raining when I passed, so I may be wrong. But does anyone know if they've started doing tickets now? I haven't seen anything in the news.

Also noticed those electronic speed signs that flash when you're speeding.

Challenged in court?

Is court now another name for my garbage can? Because that's where they'll be going.

I’ve heard they decided not to install the cameras.

That was my impression as well. But I got to tell you, sure did look like cameras set up to me. Whether they're issuing tickets or just monitoring the bridge, I'd be curious.

I’m hopeful these cameras get shot immediately after install.

They won’t get shot unless somebody shoots them

Every one of them will go in the garbage, along with the ones from Baton Rouge.

If i get one i will cut it into a 1000 pieces and mail it to them. I will not pay one freakin speed camera from the Basin Bridge.

It was either going to be that or constant replacing cameras from lead poisoning
