I understand the trajectory angle point you are trying to make but Will Smith never got back into his vehicle. His very dead feet were on the ground outside the vehicle pointed toward the front passenger door and his very dead left arm was seen over or between the steering wheel and the dashboard.

I've never been hit on purpose but everytime I hit someone on purpose i break, put the truck in park so I can exit my truck and shoot the person I just hit 8 times in the back.

All he had to do to reach his gun was lean in and open the center console.
