I understand the trajectory angle point you are trying to make but Will Smith never got back into his vehicle. His very dead feet were on the ground outside the vehicle pointed toward the front passenger door and his very dead left arm was seen over or between the steering wheel and the dashboard.
Let's wait for the ballistic report. The side wound trajectory may be nothing, but Fuller didn't ask Rachael Smith if her husband had fired that weapon at a firing range earlier that day for nothing.
