If you are talking about the elderly man testimony....im guessing that is some kind of counselor that interviewed the child and he is testifying to his interview

That looks like vintage meth face.
What'd she get arrested for?

Unfortunately in Livingston parish anyone can file a complaint and LPSO will issue a warrant without any investigation.

Based on my OT training this looks like classic case of American Court system letting ex ruin this guy life and turn the kids against him

I thought hearsay couldnt be used
It isn't hearsay if the statement is consistent with her (15 year old's) testimony and "is offered to rebut an express or implied charge against [her] of recent fabrication"
The defense is saying she made it up. Prosecution argues that the old man can testify what the girl told him earlier to show that she didn't just make it up recently. Looks like the prosecution won that argument. That's my guess anyway.

It is so sad, why does the system encourage this. They put things in place to actually incentivize this behavior

Huh? You think Hayden has been witch hunt?

Patriot act.
No speedy trial.
No right to an attorney
No right to cross witnesses
No right to even know supposed charges.

No, I was talking in general. The system encourages things for people to get the upper hand by spewing out false accusations. There usually is no investigation and everything proceeds as if the party is guilty just because someone made an accusation.
This happens all the time in family matters such as divorces.
Also it is disturbing that these accusations can come from decades prior with no ability to investigate even if the police were inclined to do their job. It is a no win situation for the accused.

I haven't followed this case much, but I thought the event that set this off was a female employee walking in on him naked with an underage drinking girl. I realize that after she went to LEO that other folks brought forward allegations that described events from over 10 years ago, but the initial allegation had nothing to do with the ex wife.

I kept saying that and then people tried to say the employee was his ex wife. Which she isn't. As if that detail wouldn't have been mentioned in court. In their world, he hires an ex wife who hates him and she manufactures an allegation that causes her to lose her job and have to perjure herself. Not very likely. But there is some strange there is no such thing as rape happening on the OT lately.

defense has rested
prosecution will rest today and give the case to the jury
the juvenile accuser testified

Former "Sons of Guns" reality TV personality Will Hayden took the witness stand Thursday and denied he raped two preteen girls in East Baton Rouge Parish, one in the early 1990s and another more recently in 2013 and 2014.
Hayden's 90 minutes on the witness stand, which included several tense exchanges with Assistant District Attorney Sonya Cardia-Porter, came just hours after one of his accusers, who is now 15 years old, got physically ill on the witness stand while telling a jury that Hayden sexually abused her for a year and a half when she was 11 and 12, wrecking her life.
"Did you rape anyone?" Hayden's court-appointed attorney, Bo Rougeou, asked the 51-year-old shortly after Hayden sat next to the jury. "No sir," Hayden said calmly and softly inside state District Judge Mike Erwin's 19th Judicial District courtroom.
Hayden's 15-year-old accuser walked quickly from the courtroom, visibly upset, as soon as he denied the rape allegations against him. From inside the courtroom, she could be heard crying in the hallway outside the 10th-floor courtroom.
the juvenile accuser testified
quote:
Through several bouts of nausea on the witness stand, Hayden's 15-year-old accuser concluded her testimony Thursday morning after beginning it Wednesday afternoon.
"He ruined my life," she said shortly after bending over for a third time and appearing to vomit. "I'm never going to be the same, but I'm a survivor, not a victim."
The girl recalled how Hayden had raped her in his home and also made her perform oral sex on him, including once in his red Dodge pickup. Hayden said he did not own the truck at that time. She also testified that Hayden bought her contraceptive gel so she would not get pregnant.

Well, I'd say that throwing up while describing sexual assault adds an air of credibility. You can fake tears, but faking vomit? That's tougher. Gotta think that made an impact.

guilty of 2 counts aggravated rape and 1 count forcible rape
quote:
D.(1) Whoever commits the crime of first degree rape shall be punished by life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. (2) However, if the victim was under the age of thirteen years, as provided by Paragraph (A)(4) of this Section: (a) And if the district attorney seeks a capital verdict, the offender shall be punished by death or life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence, in accordance with the determination of the jury. The provisions of Code of Criminal Procedure Art. 782 relative to cases in which punishment may be capital shall apply. (b) And if the district attorney does not seek a capital verdict, the offender shall be punished by life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. The provisions of Code of Criminal Procedure Art. 782 relative to cases in which punishment is necessarily confinement at hard labor shall apply.

Saw a fair bit of the trial, including the defendant's testimony and the two victims' testimony. He had a very good testimony and recovered his credibility well, but it clearly did not overcome everything else. He had a great personality and was consistent, but the victims were equally genuine and consistent. The vomiting was real from what I could see, and the assistant's testimony (walking in on him kissing his daughter, as she said) was a big help in convicting, I believe.
The jury having spoken (and from what I saw, I cannot disagree with their verdict), another evil person has been properly judged by their peers and now faces their punishment. It is a good day.
