They won’t have a cure, or a vaccine by August, and you cannot ‘social distance’ thousands of kids in already confined spaces. No way should kids be allowed to go back to school by next Fall. That would be irresponsible and dangerous of the liberals to allow such a thing.

1) What are people going to do with their kids? What are working moms going to do, if they even have a job to return to?
2) What are we going to do with the economic death punch that comes from loss of revenue that colleges bring to communities? I’m not talking about just foosball. I’m talking about all of it.

Wife teaches in Ascension. They’ve already been told multiple times to mentally prepare to be virtually teaching from home again in the fall.

Normally I would dismiss this as a Karen screaming from her Facebook box top, but I paid my kids tuition last week and those bastards already cashed it. They usually hang on to those checks a few weeks. They must want that money in the bank before the announcement that homeschooling will be extended.

Major issues with schools opening are buses, and classrooms. By default they cram the kids onto buses and then go to school where you have 30ish people in one small room. At the very least it will be half in person and half online to have smaller classes and help with the buses

They're talking about it here in Kentucky (public and private) too.
Things that are coming into play:
- Ridiculous class sizes of 30+ in public schools are going to come back to bite us in the arse.
- Buses will be the largest issues in a lot of large metro districts.
Back in the 70s, not long after busing started, a couple of high schools had to do "shifts" with a morning and evening shift of students because they didn't have the facilities. There's been mention of that but then you run into funding issues to employ staff or pay OT.
They've also talked about doing alternating days for the students, where Group A is physically in school on certain days then doing online instruction on others. Same for Group B.
In a school of 1900+ kids, I have no idea how they're going to do it.

Pretty crazy for an illness that very very rarely results in death of a child.
But I guess we don't want them carrying it home and infecting their obese and diabetic parents.

Ascension is discussing that too. I don’t see how that would magically solve the problem though.

It would reduce the number of students to the point that they'd be able to physically socially distance (assuming we're in Phase 2 or 3 at that point). And reduce numbers on buses so that they can also use social distancing.
That all said, there's likely going to be issues if you're in a school with high rigor who squeezes as much as they can out of instruction time.
