I hope not on a day with double digit winds during a state wide burn ban.

They'd be doing themselves no favors with the locals by approving that.

Walked outside this morning and smelled like the sugarcane was on fire. I knew it was too early for that.

It looks so bad out by my office. Which isn't far from your restaurant.

Not sure what everyone is freaking out about. I guess the wind direction makes it look worse than normal, but that section of marsh is usually burned every winter. It hasn't burned in like 2 winters, so it was unusually thick and dry. Likely started by lightning. Pretty well controlled/contained by the canal surrounding it.

Everybody is just a little on edge right now with these fires. One of them over here in West La. got fairly close to my house.

Fire fighters are doing an absolutely heroic job. I am very impressed. These folks are true warriors.

Start contacting your representatives and tell them to pass a damn permanent pay raise or quite a few of them are probably going to walk.

That place in Houma burns every year. They burn it so the power poles want burn in an uncontrolled fire.

For the Millenium the fireworks at my sister’s New Year Party lit it on fire. The Sheriff was at the party and he had his airboats out there. They put on a better show than the fireworks blowing fire everywhere.

That fire can’t go anywhere.

I love burning the marsh. I used to burn about 2,000 acres of prime Terrebonne Parish marsh with our trapper every year. ( about half of the lease ) the next year the other half. Or. Sometimes all of it. Great fun and we shot rabbits by the boat full.

Sure seems right now the fire west of Westlake is burning as much as the peak from sunday. If not more. With wind blowing towards sulphur.

Spoke to the Merryville chief today and he was upbeat they had a handle on their fire finally. If anyone wants to donate they can use cooling towels and liquid IV.

Mandatory evacuation near Pitkin. This is a different fire than the Tiger Island Fire. Pitkin is about 15 miles east of DeRidder

Pitkin had one flare up a few days ago, too. It was put out, I believe.

It's back this evening with a vengeance. It was reported yesterday as Contained, not "put out." It jumped Containment a matter of hours ago.

Yeah there’s seems to be a misconception on what contained means I see alot of ppl assume contained means “put out” but until they say extinguished all the fires have a chance to do what the one in Pitkin did especially with this low humidity and higher winds

I'm well aware of what contained means.
