Normal. Make sure the procedure is down laparoscopic to minimize scarring

My wife had a similar experience, which also turned out to be a kidney stone. She said the pain was worse than giving birth.

Both nurses have told me outside the room that it sure sounds like an appendix and if so they'll do surgery today.
Remember, there's a reason they aren't doctors.

Kidney stone is no picnic. The pain will knock you on your arse. I had two.

She proceeds to vomit
When I had to get my appendix out, this was my only symptom. Went over to an urgent care hoping for some meds to help some extreme nausea, nurse was pushing on my abdomen and sent me to the ER. The scans showed it was apendix.
Worst nausea of my life and the ER kept pumping me full of anti vomit meds for fear of rupture. All I wanted to do was puke and couldn’t. Woke up from surgery and it was like a light switch, instantly felt 1000% better.

This is the standard of care nowadays.
But the escalation to full open surgery is because of the appendix bursting before or during surgery and therefore not something the doc can guarantee not using.
