It's actually always been like that. The Obama administration just didnt enforce existing immigration laws. My wife came here from Venuzuela when she was 10 and didnt get naturalized until she was 20.

Trump has made it very difficult to become a US citizen. After we were married she had to apply for her green card just like someone immigrating here. Even that is not guaranteed because you have to undergo an interview and they reserve the right to reject your application. Full citizenship takes approximately 10 years.
This was the case long before Trump.
I do feel sympathetic to you and your family. You have been through a lot.

Full citizenship takes approximately 10 years.
There are other continuous living in the US requirements, but those two are the main ones.

3 years she can apply but our lawyer told us the entire process will take up to 10 years. That's green card to citizenship.

What's it like being a white man married to a black woman? I'll bet that the idiots in our world make it very tough sometimes. I don't envy you.
PS I am part Cameroon. My DNA profile says so: 1%.

You know I went through this process.
Houston (if you're still there) filers are backed up, but we're talking a year after filing, not seven.

We get treated no different for the most part. About the only thing I do notice is that AAs are more friendly when we are out together. I enjoy having fun with it. Sometimes when we are out to dinner she'll say something and I'll respond "that's racist" loud enough so the people around us can hear. I always get some strange looks.

No offense but nobody want someone bringing African cooties back to America at a time like this.
Teach her how to cam and enjoy your bachelor lifestyle.

They are doing a whole hell of a lot better keeping it contained than we are. They are much more experienced at dealing with these things than America is.

Seems like we are doing a good job at keeping the heathens out.
