We aren't talking about the chauffer's nanny.

Congrats! I remember when my wife left for the day when my daughter was very young. I was a little nervous, but it was no big deal. They are so much fun and only get more fun as they get into toddler stage.

Enjoy it. soak up all the snuggles you can.

admit they never changed a diaper

I reverse psychologied the hell out of that, when my kids were born I was the first one to change their diapers, jumped on that like I was getting ready for an LSU game, the wife and MIL were astounded, took the heat off for a while because they were assuming, I guess, that I'd want no part of things like that

Sorry about what I assume is the ex-wife now.

I only mention it because it forced me into learning how to watch a kid while I’m alone. I have friends who are hardly ever alone with their child. Thankfully my parents have been super helpful.

When they’re that young, I found it to be a lot easier. They just sleep, eat, shite, and be adorable. They don’t complain that you’re watching the ball game and you can literally stay home all freaking day and chill.

It’s when they start moving that it’s a problem

Not much tbh, she's very private and reserved about it 90% of the time.

With all that being said, I have ABSOLUTELY no clue how someone could not be excited to spend the time with their kids, as many of my coworkers have expressed.

cool man...wait till you have a toddler... I still love my son more than words can describe but spending huge blocks of time with him is TOUGH... your brain CAN NOT turn off. He either needs constant attention/play or is doing something independent that can turn dangerous/bad at any moment...his TV shows make me envy the deaf and everything is a huge deal tantrums make no sense.

Compare this to when he was a newborn... once we got past his dairy intolerance struggle, yea... was easy as frick...he stayed where you put him didnt do anything dangerous. was just cuddling, vibing and changing him.

anyway..... congrats... it's truly the best ride you'll ever be on... but you being cocky right now my guy

Was very involved with my kids even changing most of the dirtiest of diapers as wife had strong gag response to noxious odors (like I didn't). Loved spending all that time with them as each day is a gift and things they do/learn today will never be new again. But it is very tiring! Lots of time I lay down to read to my girls and I would fall asleep first! Good luck and enjoy the sweet moments!

It’s one kid, that would be like complaining that you had to work real hard to Lift the toilet seat

Correct, if so, we'd be talking about CEOs and business owners
Instead, buttpirate, we're talking about laborers.

Enjoy the kids, life's true blessing. Newborns, if healthy, are a blessing. Be preemptive and prepare. If they are crying, they need something...hungry, tired, uncomfortable, diaper wet.
It gets crazy for moments...but boy oh boy, when things line up and they are happy and attentive to you...thats God's moments given to you. Eat it up, time will fly by now...and I mean fly. Soon you'll be choosing a high school

admit they never changed a diaper or were never left alone with their kids without the wife for more than a few hours

I don't even fathom how that's possible. I know it was unique situation but my wife had a rough attempt at delivery and eventual rough emergency C-section... she didn't change his diaper for the first time until he was maybe 1-2 weeks old. Till then it was the dad show lol

I was a sahd for a year. none of our kids have ever not had a full-time parent in the home. no nannies, no daycare, no grandparents.

this you misunderstood..was more because it felt like you were dunking on guys that were checking on you if you were nervous as shitty dads. Bascially I was saying yea you're dead on.... this weekend gonna be cake and great... it gets much MUCH harder... though also funner in other ways. I think the dudes you talking to prob have kids of a tougher age and forgot the easy part of child care

Pretty accurate. In addition to destroying our country, boomers were also the laziest and most entitled dads this world has ever seen.

With our first child, wife (no pics) worked part time, which was Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

So on Saturday of each week, left me with the sole responsibility of the baby. I would not change a thing - it was awesome. Not to say every moment was perfect but I enjoyed it.
