If I were him, I'd just open another account (at another bank/S&L).

I don't give my folks an option, every penny of wages/bonuses, etc. is handled through ACH transfer.

It's usually people with no bank account, or those that have overdrafted their account. The people with no bank account usually can't open one because they're in the chexsystem for outstanding debts to another banking institution.

Dont get me started. In the branch today are a bunch of typical weekly check cashers. No bank account, but they all have smart phones.

I went into the bank last year to pull out a couple of thousand dollars to buy a car for my daughter. I realized it had been at least 10 years since I had been in a bank. I was not sure what to do. I've had direct deposit since I was 17 years old (26 years ago) and have not looked back.

Even if I didn't have direct deposit, for the past 5-6 years I have been able to deposit checks to my account via smartphone. I guess all those people who have overdraft charges are the ones getting hard checks. It's a vicious cycle as they are paying fees out the butt each time they cash a check, just to avoid another fee. Oh well

I had a superintendent that refused direct deposit of any kind. He didn't want his wife to know how much money he made. As far as she knew, he was still making the same amount as 1994.

He told me stories, and if my wife was the bad with money, I'd of done the same thing.

Because they're illegal without a valid SS number? At least that's the case with 75% of my employees.

Or they're using a different name, with a valid SS #, but without ID so they have to go to La Michoacana Meat Market to cash it.

I do the payroll here.... No body wants direct deposit. Some say they don't because they need to move some into savings and some cash it...

It blows my mind.

Wait one week for those bills/withdrawals and you'll have no issues, but they can't do it and constantly climb out of $120-$180 holes from overdraft fees.

Brick and mortar banks in 2016 are basically dependent on the uneducated to maintain their model. I'm not knocking those practices because these people are using the bank's money, but they just cannot get out of their own way.

One of my employers would direct deposit my pay check but not my expense reimbursement. There I was every two weeks waiting in line to deposit my expenses.

Believe it or not, but not all credit unions offer direct deposit as an option. I was surprised to find this out a few weeks ago.
