I love that this is the takeaway so many of us had to the article. I was super wtf about the separate hard drive, too.

From a woman's perspective...

I was sometimes a cheater. Not in great relationships. A few, I didn't cheat on, because they were good to me.

Now, in a relationship with a man I could never cheat on. Not married, but he is my best friend. I am strong willed, but he is the "man" of the relationship. I think that is important. When women sense weakness, they look elsewhere. Sometimes, I think the man is trying to give the woman what he thinks she wants, but he only comes across as weak. Women (if raised right) want our men to protect us.

So isn't the implication here that a woman is never in control of herself, and is always dependent on the actions of her partner? That invites the idea that women who cheat are never culpable, as it relies on this idiotic idea that a man should be a man, whatever that means. This notion also invites other implications about responsibility...

that's kind of ignorant, no? as men and women age, we all get smarter, more mature, more patient... and better at relationships due to trial and error.
you just seem to be stigmatizing her situation.

what about people who have successful second marriages?
someone's "prime" is subjective and based on perspective.

He's got this terrible habit of overgeneralizing and has a horrible outlook on human relations. It's all individualized, we're not programmed to follow generalized data. For many, prime could be 35+

your prime is based on my biological response

so just because you think youre smarter, better, hotter at 35 - our dicks still prefer the 18 year old version.

You have been trying to justify cheating. I think you still have a long way to go.

SHHHHH...All women are whores and all men are just the victims that we whore around on. Has the OT taught you nothing?

It carries more credibility than a 22 year old who's regurgitating reading material

Again, you realize this line of thinking (that you quoted) removes culpability for the woman who cheats? It is set as a conditional, as in, if you are a good man who steps up (whatever the hell that means), then a woman won't cheat. The logic here is insane. And what a good man means is so amorphous that it can justify any response from the woman.

More of this "you have no personal responsibility" thinking.

"Promised not to cheat---doesn't matter if your husband is not doing enough to give you the attention you think you need then cheat. "

Crazy, self centered thinking that is pervasive across our society today.

I mentioned that earlier. Cheaters will find ways to justify over time.

Problem with this perspective is that it's setting yourself up for failure. If you're prone to cheating , you'll rationalize. No one is the perfect friend and protector long term.

It's just a logical way of justifying cheating. "He was such a strong man, then he was weak because of ______ -- that was not the man I married/dated, so I cheated on him."
