I'm friends with 2 couples that are in the swinging lifestyle. They say every year that goes by the parties they attend double in size. They tell me, why sneak around cheating when you can have your SO next to you and be open about it. They swear it strengthens their marriage.

Exactly. It is a way of shifting blame. I'd rather they be honest with themselves about why they cheat. It's about attraction, and people are attracted to who they are attracted to. The rationalization of it as contingent upon the actions of someone else though is literally crazy though, and if a women suggests she is not culpable for cheating because her partner wasn't a "good man," then that woman, that person, is frankly insane.
i so frequently hear people talking about this agreeing that:
when a woman cheats, generally, the reason isn't surface deep.
when a man cheats, generally, it's based more on carnal needs.

Women try to justify their cheating by saying its the man's fault. When in reality it is because most women don't respect the institution of marriage at all. They just do it because "that is what I am supposed to do"
Honestly this type of stuff is what makes me scared to approach marriage. Its not that I couldn't be married now, its just that I have a severe mistrust in modern marriage because so many people are doing it "just cause" and not because of love.

Maybe you're right. Yall come across as gross and trashy, especially the one earlier talking nonchalantly about/justifying cheating. I guess that's the only type of woman who would post on here with any sort of frequency.

There are more reasons than that.
Depending on age a guy might have zero in common with the 18 year old.
18 year old probably has less money and lower sex drive, too.
And if the 18 year old has a kid then it is young and requires constant attention. A 35 year old who had a kid at 18 will have a 17 year old who can take care of themselves and will soon be on their own.

I frankly disagree with this assertion. Humans are wired to be polyamorous, which is one reason why, unlike our nearest primate relatives, we do not have a specific mating period (as in humans have menstrual cycles rather than estrus cycles). The benefit of this mating strategy in evolutionary terms is that humans are not good judges of who is the most fit, or who will produce offspring that will have be viable, so a polyamorous strategy allows for a variety of potential mates, for both genders, and forces competition for those mates. It also explains why we have competition between sperm from different men in the same woman, as this not seen in animals that are wired for monogamy.
My point here is that this is all biology, and that one side gets to rationalize an emotional response and one side gets to rationalize a biological response gives a false impression.

I think it's sad that y'all get to look at the 18 year old and see the attractiveness, but yet it's frowned upon for us to ask to see his bank statements, tax returns and FICO score. Because, if we're being honest, that's what really turns us gold-digging whores on. That and a big dick. But, apparently, we're not supposed to ask to see that before either.
