I’m curious about the folding phone Apple is rumored to be launching next year. Would eliminate the need for my iPad for sure, but would need normal iPhone capability on the folded setting. I’m not unfolding that thing for every text or phone call. If I’m eating lunch and watching a video, then yes.

All the new phones are slick and smooth.
It is almost as if they design them to be easy to drop
Bingo!

Has anyone tried these minimalist cases like in the link?
I’ve never tried one of those “designer” minimalist cases, but I’ve have this bumper style “case” on my 14 Pro for a few years and it’s done exactly what I needed it to, which was to lift the corners so the camera island wasn’t always the point of contact when I set it down and to handle very minor drops. I’ve replaced it once because it got mildly deformed from taking it off to clean the phone, but I would say $30 for three years ain’t bad, and the phone still looks flawless: LINK

The absolute last resort method of communication is a voice call. I hate that shite. And kill voicemail off already.
And I don't understand that, especially if time is such an important element.
I know for certain I can have a conversation with another person in a hell of a lot less time than texting back and forth and waiting for them to reply so the so-called conversation can continue.

You got your shite gold-plated or something? The most expensive phones are like 1200.

I never use cases but I know I’m taking a pretty decent-sized risk. The people who use cases (most people) aren’t wrong here.
I said big case. Small cases are fine, especially considering how camera islands have been designed. And if you work in a construction site and had one of those “rugged” laptops back in the day, Godspeed. But if you’re a housewife or a desk jockey and put a case on your phone that looks remarkably like the shell of a child’s iPad…

If you’re both sitting at a desk, sure. Your core assumption is that the other person is just as available as you are. If someone tries to cold call me, nine times out of ten, they are going to get a text saying I can’t answer and won’t be able to call back for at least a couple of hours, but I can text if they need. That text conversation will get them their answer far faster than a phone call two hours later.

Don't kill it yet. I like to read what the person just called me to say so I can decide if I need to block, text, email, or call them. They just need to fix the voice to text feature the vm uses

And here I am with my basic flip phone that measures approximately 2 1/2 inches wide by 4 inches long by 1/2 inch deep. I don't worry about protecting it since if I drop it and it breaks I'm out less than $30 and can easily replace it for about the same price.
Been having this same phone for about 3 yrs. and it does what I want it to without fail---------------make and receive phone calls. No pics, videos, texting, searching the net, just phone calls.
Dead Marine, get your gear.
