Quick read.

I worked but still had some family help but this was a state school in late 70's. Costs now are pretty steep. I know the OT loves an education thread.

My scholarships and summer job paid for college 10 years ago

It can still be done

Of course, for that summer job I was working 90-100 hour weeks without a day off for 3 months

It's been a while, but I worked two jobs during the summer and a part time job (25 hours a week) while I was in school.

No summer jobs won't pay for college, but a military one will.

My family couldn't afford to pay for my college. I worked 35 hours a week at a bank and lived poor to pay for what TOPS didn't cover/living expenses. My wife had ~10k in student loans when we married that we paid off in 5 years. It was a bitch, but you find a way if it is important to you. America

And then your grandmother gave away your inheritance to a stranger. Life is a bitch.

In 1981-'82, the average full cost to attend was $2,870. That's for tuition, fees and room and board.

I'm a bit skeptical of that.

I worked three jobs to help pay for college (One was only once a week for $100). My first two years were tough, but once I got a partial scholarship, I was able to work less and school more.

Sounds right to me. My tuition and books for my Rx degree was under $12,000 total. I graduated in 98.

frick that. If I do anything for 90-100 hours a week it's going to be sleeping.

Or drinking beer.

I'm not, the cost of Mizzou for Tuition when I was there in 1987 was $1,492 I can see and extra $1,400 for R&B five years earlier at a school.

frick that. Students loans can be paid back, getting those months of your life back cannot be done.

Why Summer jobs don't pay for school

Because they're meant for high school kids to earn a little cash.. Not to pay bills/for school.
