It's the signal drivers use to let Mississippi State Troopers know they are not trying to smuggle books into Mississippi.

the old tag was awful:

they released a badazz looking blackout plate:

everyone went to get the blackout plate which requires personalization

then they released the new plate, which is ok, but not as clean as the blackout:

hope this helps.

The blackout plate benefits the police and firefighters death benefit fund.

We don't need to. Plenty of books are produced in state.

Must be cheap or free. Only explanation.

It’s actually the opposite. They have to pay more/extra to have those black plates that have to be personalized.

I’ve noticed this as well.
Also saw this the other day.

IMTRASH

Michigan plate but in Mississippi.

Driving to/from Ocean Springs and Gulfport from BR for work today and noticed probably 1/3 of MS plates are personalized. Is this something they just offer upfront when registering a vehicle or just low IQ?

How else are they supposed to show the peasants their balla status?

The reason for this is simple. Registration (car tags) contains an ad velorem tax in Mississippi and is based on the value of your car. So, annual registration fees which is done through car tag stickers, can easily top $1,100 per year on a newer vehicle. As a result, the upcharge for personalized plates is almost insignificant at $53.

Every tag has a different fund it supports. I have a St Jude’s one and 34 dollars goes to them every year. The Saints Super Bowl one actually supports the Infinity Science center right at the MS/LA line by stennis.

Well, wasn't planning to post but accidently hit submit. I do have two of the black plates though. Look great on my vehicles.
