Have you been up there? It's beautiful, you don't have issues with diversity, and theres plenty of things to do. People are a bit too friendly though, they're a weird breed

Have you ever even been to Maine? It's an amazingly beautiful state.
Oh, and this family, to answer your question.

Not sure about living in Maine, but Portland seems cool to at least visit.
Visit New Hampshire, VErmont, and Maine during the Fall and you'll have a "trip of a lifetime"
No other place in the country can match the beauty of a New England Fall

I am sure it is.... but aside from that what would attract someone to move there?????

I've heard it in Lafayette IRL several times. It's also all over LSU's campus

I spent 18 years in the coastal NE and can tell you it's colder than a dead witch's tits
NYC and NJ are fairly mild compared to man northern areas, which is why I said relatively.

What I will say to you baws who have never experienced the NE is do not take what you see on Fox News as the complete definition of that region.
There are a number of outstanding communites, gorgeous parks, and well educated workforce populations throughout the NE
Yes, it is ridiculously expensive in terms of Real Estate pricing and property taxes but you usually receive a higher % ROI compared to what taxpayers in LA get from their government.

I'd like to see some demographic data on who is actually leaving. I'll take a little thinning of the herd up here to help out with the congestion.

So they move here and frick it up like their old state see NC, Austin and Northern VA
Add New Orleans to that list.

As far as a place to live/retire, the northeast is fantastic outside of the coastal cities. Seasons, good scenery, and good people.

I live in Maine and love it, Peej.
Besides for the rampant heroin addiction it's a wonderful place to live. Forbes rated Portland the best city to live in the country a few years ago and it deserves it. It's an amazing town and a place I will surely always reside in one way or another.

We need state citizenship!
We were originally the united states of America, not the United States of America. Free movement between the states is bullshite. Illinois is about to be a failed state, they should have to pay the consequences of their actions.

Maine summers is what life is all about. I frequent Acadia National park and MDI and never take it for granted. The other day I stopped on the side of the road, munched on my fresh out the shell lobster roll, munched on some wild blueberries and roasted a bone(which pot is 100% legal for possession throughout the whole state now) and enjoyed one of the most amazing sunsets I've ever seen.
I was king of the world in that moment.

And outside of the super rich areas of Connecticut right next to New York, it's a shite hole. I'd be moving too.
I have family in Bridgeport and some of those neighborhoods I wouldn't drive through in the daytime.
Only thing I'm jealous of is the trains.
