Why isn't the city of Baton Rouge taking any action on loud car exhausts?

I'm sitting inside my home, double paned windows, hundreds of feet from the roadways, and still hear the trash revving their car exhausts over my own TV.

Baton Rouge law states that vehicles making 85+ decibels of noise greater than 25 feet is against the law. A hairdryer is 90 decibels.

Fines range from $200 to $500 per offense. Decibel meters are $65 according to BRPD.

BRPD could easily pay an officer overtime rate to just sit in parking lot with a decibal meter and rack up fines all night.

The city would come out ahead in fines and a lot of trash would be off the civilized streets.

There are bigger crimes going on in Baton Rouge than this. Your post is exactly what is wrong with police, they are not here to protect and serve. They are here as a stream of revenue for the city. Make money by fining people with loud exhaust?!?!? How about stopping violent crime in North BR

Seems like it’s not a normal week for the OT unless there’s at least 10 threads to complain about BR.

Are you an idiot?

Protect and serve means just that, serve the municipality and its laws/ordnances. Excessive noise and disturbing the peace is right up there with serving the public.

The revenue standpoint is to show that it wont cost the city anything, hence there is no reason NOT to do it.

Plenty of officers would love to make overtime sitting in a parking lot.

Now go rev your engine little boy, your Popeyes shift will come around soon.

bullshite. In any city on Earth, when the cops start busting people for the little things like littering, noise violations, etc, the crime goes down because the criminals go away. Guilliani in NYC turned Times Square into a tourist attraction from a slum, in a few show years by simply enforcing basic low-level shite.

While I agree with you,

It's Baton Rouge.

Not only will nothing be done, it will get much, much worse.

Would be nice, but the police cant stop murders.

Best way to stop murders would be for judges and DAs to stop going soft on criminals. Keep the low IQ animals in their cages where they belong, away from civilized society.

Loud pipes big rims
Wodie that's our life
When we pull up at the club
Sorry that's our night
I know a lot of haters out there saying
That that's not right
But our diamonds are much bigger
So that's our life

I failed an inspection sticker renewal because my gas cap fricked up the computer thing

Meanwhile these fricks ride around town with an obnoxious car and a few other illegal things

Very frustrating
