Guess I meant at who’s expense and what percentage of the population has to have been sick for herd immunity to be a factor.

It’s pretty possible for people that are vulnerable to extremely limit it which in turn extremely reduces the chances. But hey people like you want to blame everyone else and that’s fine I guess.

If viruses did not mutate and we perfected the techniques of keeping carriers from spreading it to high-risk groups, then the cost of each new infection (low risk of suffering symptoms) is simply: need to maintain the separation / decon routines longer.
But, because viruses can and do mutate, the bigger the carrier population gets, the more chances will occur for someone's infection to the be a variant with a new set of rules. It's not automatically bad or more dangerous, but it makes the situation more complex and questions harder to answer simply, and that is a pain in the arse.

This is why we need college campuses open in the fall. The college kids will be at school instead of at home around older relatives.
