Why is there school today but not on MLK Day?

MLK day and veterans day are BOTH federal holidays
if you're mad that some schools stay open, get mad at the states and/or school boards

Having school holidays for holidays where the day of the week changes would mess up the whole week instead of just creating long weekends. Memorial Day, Columbus Day, Labor Day and MLK day are always on Mondays.
Veterans Day is always on November 11.
