Business and bank closures associated with the COVID-19 pandemic have significantly disrupted the supply chain and normal circulation patterns for U.S. coins. While there is an adequate overall amount of coins in the economy, the slowed pace of circulation has reduced available inventories in some areas of the country.4 days ago

That’s not the point. Every place I’ve been says to have correct change or use debit or credit because of a coin shortage.

That's because they've deemed math to be white privilege. It is racist to use math so now you have to use exact change.

I've had plenty of time on my hands with Covid so I've been spending my days putting coins on railroad tracks. I assume many other Americans are doing similar.

Soros and the rest of the NWO lizard-people--pizza-eater-pedos created a fake shortage to force digital forms of currency to further control you.

All the free time that people have had has led to more walks in the parks, which has led to more coins being tossed into fountains for wishes.

Big park fountain industry is hoarding the coins.

Better question is why tf does change even exist anymore. Round to the nearest .05 or 0 FFS and stop making pennies at least.

Better yet round to the nearest dollar and make the coin obsolete.

There isn’t. People getting unemployment and the new employees can’t count or do math.

I have no clue. I would gladly cash in my jar if coins if my damn bank would agree to use their coin counter or if the grocery store public machines would reduce their charge

You can also buy your own coin counter / sorter if you don't want to pay to use the public grocery store machines

No one wants to carry a coin purse, or give to the homeless.

Lol, most people would lose money spending that much on a counter to count coins

Haha i know, they should just pay the fee at the grocery. I guess they want to just have coins collect dust forever.

My theory is that they’ve been taken out of circulation because of the spread of covid.

Banks won't accept coins if they have to count them themselves. And coinstar takes way too much percentage. So I never turn coins in anymore. I have a few hundred dollars in coins just sitting in my house.

Coin star will give you gift cards, with no fees
