That's pretty much what I though until I watched the video. Guy who made the video spent months investigating all of this. Quite impressive work

I've been to a Dairy Queen once when their ice cream machine was broke and I was flabbergasted. I imagine it's the same thing people think when McDonald's ice cream machines AREN'T broke
and they are made by the same company. What a bunch of frickery on McDonald's part, screwing their franchise owners like that.

I can't believe he made it through that insane manual. I would have said frick it at that point.

You can only call authorized technicians by your franchise contract, and the company is making lots of money off of this so it never fixes this problem. That is why the machines are always down. Company who manufactures machines and does all the work on them is Taylor.
Taylor claims that ~25% of their revenue comes from machine repair; that’s why they have over 6,000 repair technicians in North America. Couple that with the knowledge that they make machines for Chick-fil-A, In-N-Out, Burger King, and many more ... of which those all seem to work all of the time. This tells me that the lion’s share of that 25% is probably from McDonald’s. There’s a crazy strong incentive to keep those machines in need of repair. This doesn’t work with other food chains because they don’t have exclusive contracts with Taylor like McDonald’s does.

Well, he is getting paid, 1.3 million subs, 2 1/4 million views in 3 days, and will likely get lots of views for a very long time all equals pretty solid revenue. Plus he had an internal ad.

There are nearly 14,000 McDonald's locations in the US, almost double the amount of Burger Kings, and Chick-fil-a/In-N-Out/Wendy's aren't even close to having that many locations. So you've got 14,000 McDonald's with that same Taylor C708 piece of shite ice cream machine in it. Yeah, that is a boatload of money that McDonald's is helping Taylor collect on a regular basis.

Wonder if some of the Mickey D's people own some of Taylor as well.

Yeah, it’s pretty funny when you get a dose of your own bullshite.

Just take the God damn shakes off the fricking menu.

Easiest solution.

That doesn't line Taylor's pockets. The point is to NOT find a solution to the ongoing problem.

If it’s so hard to clean (not doubting it), how do people trust eating that nasty shite knowing there’s a good chance it’s not going to be done correctly.

So why do the Taylor machines break and require a technician for McDonald’s and not the other fast food restaurants? Different software?

This is like planned obsolescence. It’s a real thin in big business.

The reason is mostly lazy.
They dont want to clean the machine before refilling and it creates another problem. They dont want to refill it.
Imagine a 20-30 pound bag of liquid. It's hard to carry and move around with. Now get on a step ladder and pour that bag into the machine from the top, about 4-5 ft high. There's been too many times that employees spill that sucker everywhere.
So thats why the ice cream machine is always broken at mcdonald. managers and employee dont care and lazy. I can promise you that it's never usually broken
