More land between San Antonio and El Paso is undeveloped. Ask Texas.

There's a fish hatchery, a nudist colony, and La Provence. But I'm sure D.R. Horton will find it eventually.

I have family on the north shore and I’m always curious during the drive from Slidell to mandeville why there’s nothing in between during that long stretch.
Because we want it that way.

30-40 years ago, Madisonville was the red-headed stepchild of the true Northshore. As quaint and historic as it was, no one was moving there or building much of anything. Now look at it.
I doubt if anyone here knows the real history of madisonville.

Someone on here wrote up a great post a couple of years ago talking about the land grants from the royals and the old family lines like the Steins, Bahams, etc. The more recent history I’ve heard was that it was the destination where wealthy slaveowners on the south shore would send slaves who were impregnated by their masters.
This ignores the history of the folks who were native to the land before Europeans came along.
It’s a really interesting place and I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time there as a kid.

It is the buffer that separates the good side from the bad side of the parish

Lakeshore is literally the only thing on that one road. Not even a gas station.

Wasn't that the one that Ashton Ryan was developing with some of his cronies?
Who is developing it now?

He’s there almost every day. What type of development requires a police detail at the front gate every day?
