Probably some engineer who wants you to think that your world will not begin nor end without his existence.

I work for government and everyone sprints out at whatever time their schedule says. Being late is a big deal.

Very different than my previous job where everyone would stay late for the "boss walk-around" even when we all had flexible schedules.

We work 7-4:15. I get here at around 6:15 and get a lot of shite done just because its easier with the quiet. But I roll the frick out at like 4:05-4:10 every day. Everyone here is about the same, never understood the concept of staying late for appearance, everyone knows you have a family and shite to do, I don't live to work I work to live.

No idea. I'd say efficiency with time should be the most important measure. So many will work hard in those before and after hours, but during the meat of the workday don't do anything which results in a net negative.

I'm usually the last person out the door so I don't have to fight as much traffic.

At my last job I got a talking to from one of the owners for always leaving at five. No actual complaints about quality of work or effort, just that it doesn't look like you want to be there if you are out the door right at five.

I've always hated that shite, especially when it ignores, as many have said, coming in early, or also taking a short or no lunch, or doing work from home later in the evenings, both of which I do consistently and would rather do and be able to get home at a decent time than sitting there for another 30-60 minutes.

I fricking hate clock watchers.

Boomer boss here
First one in and last one out--just more comfortable for me
I do appreciate employees checking in before they leave but don't expect them to stay late

Most outdated concept ever. I hope that 8 to 5 dies out at some point in my lifetime.
