Why is discrimination against Muslims Americans so openly supported and lauded?

Let me reiterate, I am no supporter of terrorism he against our troops or violence against our country. In fact, I do wish we had a more solid plan as to how we were going to eliminate threat of violence to our countrymen and women here and aboard. We, and the large majority of peaceful world citizens, deserve a safer world. However, the amount of open disgust and racism towards Muslim Americans is appalling and downright embarassing. Yes we do have an issue with radical islam, but in that same token, 99.9% of Muslim Americans are peaceful citizens that dont want violence on anyone, let alone some of their faith using their faith to inflict harm on others.
It is alarming to see some folks will openly regulate them to second class citizen status and will openly call for a war on some of their fellow citizens. In my eyes, that is highly divisive, and shallow interpretations of the actual problems alienates fellow americans that share the same ideals and principles as the rest of us. How are we supposed to be a interracial, inter-religion, inter-gender, etc society if we pathologize and demonize everyone because the actions of a small minority of wacko terrorists?

Muslim is not a race.
Around 15% give or take support violence in the name of Islam or take part in violence. Out of 200 million Muslims in the world, that's tens of millions.

On here? Because we aren't subject to ultra-orthodox censorship.
If you are referring to mainstream, mass media - I'd like for you to provide some examples. Actual lambasting of American Muslims is a no-no from a national standpoint, just like any other 'protected' or 'oppressed' group.
