Why is CenterPoint the only company that charges a fee to use a card to pay my bill?

It seems like any other company I do business with you can go online and pay your bill without incurring the $2.50 charge for using a card. They got me right where they want me because I am not giving them my banking information for them to only get hacked and have all my info stolen. It is BS

Better yet, why does the State of La charge about $3 to renew drivers license online but charges $23 by the LaWallet app?
Edit due to transposed numbers, $32 for state fee, app charges another $23. Online is only $3 + state.

I have to prove who I am to pay my mortgage.
If someone wants to pay my mortgage for me, I say let them.

Write a check and mail in your payment.
Some banks have a bill pay service where you enter your CenterPoint account information and the bank sends the check.

If you can find me another gas company in Houston, I will happily switch.

My bank has a service where they will refund ATM fees from other banks or networks. The catch is, you have to hang on to all those receipts and go into a branch and get the total credited to your account. And you ha e to do it within 30 days.
Who in the hell has the time to do that? That's the entire point of using an ATM anywhere: So I don't have to go inside the damn bank

I think Baton Rouge Water charges too. Their payment system with the payment thru Adobe is the most bullshite thing ever, get in the 21st century FFS.

Any business that accepts credit cards has to pay that amount off the top to the credit card company.
Historically, they passed that cost on to everyone, but I support the idea of charging individual card users for the extra fee, in real time, rather than hiding it and spreading it amongst all users.
It has remained a hidden cost for too long, and I believe it is favorable for us to see the cost of the convenience.
It may lead to some changed behavior by consumers, and maybe changes in the system.

Our trash company starting charging a fee for credit cards a while back, so I switched to taking it out my checking account.
Pretty sure Entergy charges a credit card fee too because I have that one setup on draft from checking account too. I use CC whenever I can go get points, but I'm not paying 3.50% in credit card fees to get 1.5 or 2% back in points

I'm not in a MUD, but a tiny, single neighborhood water system. We get charged $1 if we use an eCheck and 3% of your bill if you use a credit card. Definitely a racket.
