Why I don't do volunteer work

My grandfather was a good man and instilled values in me, he always used to cite one of his favorite values
"No pay, no work"
So I have also continued the family tradition and have carried on that value. Volunteer work seems like a good idea and it probably is and good on you if you do volunteer work I am not judging you. But if you have to make exceptions or compromises for your values you don't have any values at all.
Must stand firm.
I will give to charity but no volunteer work like working in a soup kitchen or building something like Habitat For Humanity, no pay no work its that simple.
Who else agrees that holding fast to your values is important in all circumstances?

I give to charities too, but the main reason I don't donate my time is because I'm very selfish with it.

It's not about the money it's about the time.
I don't give to charities, but I will volunteer because I know how my services are used and I can't write off a nation-wide problem by giving money. No. I want to put some blood, sweat, and tears into the fight. And time and man-hours is the ultimate core of this and volunteering.
You're doing it the opposite way!

I don't do volunteer work that conflicts with my values, but I can't think of any that would.
