My bigger complaint is that is you are seriously concerned about the virus are you going to put your safety in someone else’s hands or are you going to take care of it yourself.

The fact that this is being discussed still is evidence of the huge failure of the internet and the government.

The fact that this post has any downvotes at all disturbs me.......

The Masked Covidians are religious zealots, no different than snake handlers or the holy rollers.

If masks didn't work then we'd have most of our doctors and nurses, who treat Covid patients, get sick or die. They absolutely work. This same shite went around back in the day when cops wanted you to buckle up. It saves lives. I don't see people getting outraged these days about "Click it or Ticket". Isn't that against your "freedoms"?

But they did get sick. And a very small number did die.

Just like the rest of this country who have been wearing masks, or other countries across the glob have been wearing masks.

And yet cases still increased and there were still spikes.

Yall REALLY need to call a townhall or something to get this story straight on whether masks protect the wearer or not.

Not nearly as many as you'd expect given how contagious this virus is. Surely you at least agree that it spreads easily, right? It's obviously no where near as fatal as they wanted you to believe, but you don't really argue against the contagiousness, do you?

N95 can still let a few particles through.

N100 and P100 masks filter 100% of all particulate matter....but they are extremely rare. They also fit much much tighter.

And how many were asymptomatic? And how many were exposed, and didn't develop symptoms at the outset?

No, I don't. What I do argue against is the effectiveness of wearing a mask in slowing or containing the spread.

As I've stated in this thread already, the infection rate and number of cases between countries with extremely strict mask mandates and universal compliance are no different than ones with little or no mandates.

Respirators work. N95 *can* work if fitted and worn correctly. Cloth or paper masks are nothing but a government-ordered safety blanky.

There are many studies that go directly against this. I really don't get why you have to say they do nothing. Again, No one (in this thread anyway) is claiming they are 100% effective.

But they do help. They do more than zero, which is the argument you and others have been trying to make. Arguing they do zero is a losing argument. That doesn't make me a mask zealot. You've seen me post enough about this to know that isn't the case.

And I disagree. Case statistics across various states, countries, populations, etc. have proven they do not.

Except that people who don’t have coughs are required to wear them out of prevention for something they likely don’t have

I don't really care about masks. I wear them if requested. But can we keep the social distancing part? I like that people don't stand right next to me and tables aren't on top of each other at restaurants..
