Why hasn’t New Orleans hosted the Summer Olympics?

It seems New Orleans can handle large crowds. The city has first class stadiums and arenas. Plenty of hotel rooms to accommodate the visitors. The city has tons of experience hosting Mardi Gras, Super Bowls, National Championships, etc.

It seems that New Orleans would be a great city to host the Summer Olympics.. especially with the weather.

In the future, do you think they will put a bid in to host the summer games?

They could always do the Games in October.

The real issue would be where to put all the facilities.

You can hardly walk on the streets and sidewalks. You want people to try it with crutches and wheelchairs? I about tore an ACL running the Crescent City Classic 10K.

The 1985 Olympic Festival was held in Baton Rouge. They built the velodrome for it and held rowing events in the campus lake across from fraternity/sorority row.

This is the real answer. All other issues are surmountable, given time.
