Why don't we have statewide standards for Uber?

It's amazing that politicians think people are stupid enough to buy this bullshite

This is fricking disgusting. The people need to vote him out. He is part of the problem why Louisiana is the way it is.

I like this journalistic direction. Keep it up, Advocate.

Sheriffs association doesn't want statewide ride services because it would cut down on all that sweet sweet DUI income. All they have to do is threaten to raise taxes to make up the hole in their budgets because of "all the drunks". Good luck finding a state legislator that will go against that.

It still blows my mind that anyone could be against Uber being legal. The number of lives it saves is probably pretty high.

Because the government getting involved would make it worse

Alario is an archetype of what has made and keeps Louisiana firmly in the 40s.
Thank God for Mississippi.

A slight hijack, but how is Uber in BR? Are the usual wait times bad? Coming in this weekend and won't have a car.

Always in last place or damned close to it.
Those responsible should be ashamed, but they aren't. They're proud that they are screwing rural citizens out of a good product for the benefit of a handful of buddies.
It's not like you can even get a cab in many small towns. They don't do business there at all. But if Uber or Lyft were available, locals would step up and make transportation available to the elderly, disabled, drunk, etc.

Not only should I be able to work and operate for Uber in the small town I live in without the blessing of some politician but I should be able to do it on my own without the fear of the long arm of the law coming down. If I’m completely legal then the government has no business telling me if I can or can’t make money using my personal vehicle.

The idiots that vote for assholes like Alario are a bigger reason Louisiana sucks. Alario wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t for this state being overrun by fricking useless idiots.

Because Uber is an app.

Be careful, there are lots of Trump supporters here who will be triggered.
