They've been given nearly a week's notice and it's a mandatory evacuation notice. These people will be the same people the coast guard will be plucking off rooftops, rapid water rescues, etc.
They will be the ones yelling they cannot get any help days after the storm, the government forgot about them, etc.
Have these people not learned from hurricanes Katrina and Sandy?
It reminds me of the dumbass that wanted to tied to a tree for a hurricane because he claimed he was in such fit, he could survive 100+ mph winds. He didn't realize that it's not the winds, it the shite the wind is pushing.
I just don't get these fricking retards!!!

Some people aren’t equipped to survive without someone else doing all the work for them. Some are just stubborn.

Some are stupid.

Pretty simple. It's a boy that cried wolf type of thinking. Many people have either evacuated/not evacuated when they were told to previously and the storm changes direction or for whatever other reason things aren't that bad. They have a false sense of security that things will be ok again. The more you get away with it and dodge bullets the more that mindset is reinforced.

was it Ron White who said, when the storm throws a Volkswagen at you.... how many sit-ups you can do doesn't come into play.

We haven't evacuated before and we have.

The reason my parents don't like to evacuate is the last time they did, their town was completely cutoff access for three weeks by road due to some bridge damage and they had to stay with family for 3 weekz

We have enough meteorological and satellite information for rational people to make an informed decision regardless of the amount of "wolf sitings by the authorities" . Some people are just stupid.

The greater problem is that storms are racist, some people can't afford to evacuate.

I'd rather be trapped in my home than trapped with a bunch of people I don't know.

No thank you. I won't call for any help, never have. Thanks for the concern but worry bout your own shite IMO.

This argument gets me. Don't go rescue them then.

Agreed

And I don't think the weather people are being irresponsible. Some people just underestimate their dumb luck and think that it will never run out.

What good is it to come out of a bunker to no electricity, no water, and possibly a flooded and/or damaged house.
Its miserable. Last year in refugio TX, people were just sitting on their porches for almost 2 weeks...just nothing to do

The storm is coming directly ashore with a projected 15-20ft storm surge. Good luck to the coastal residents who try to ride that out. That’s more than some wind n rain. As they say, use a sharpie to write your name and SSN on you arm so the body is easily ID’d when located.
