This much is true for western Europe (minus the UK). The food here is loaded with preservatives that they don't use as much over there. The down side is that you are going to the shop to buy only a day or two worth of food at a time or it goes bad. Eta: the US has much wider variety however.

It’s more than that. America shortcuts the frick out of everything and places very little value on artisans and legit food as much as it does time. That being said, all it really takes is fire, product, knowledge and desire, all of which you can find right here. and I can cook anything I want that will match or best European cuisine. It’s not rocket science. It’s just cooking.

Having lived all over the southeast United States, I can definitely say that this is the greatest country in the world.

Big Sur

I prefer to believe that you have no idea how good we have it in America.

food, entertainment, jobs, family, travel, housing, potential for the future.

Enough said.

Subtle brag:
Went to Italy in April. Driving through the countryside we stopped at a grocery store. The quality of the store and people were equal to what you'd see shopping at a local grocery store in the country here.

I think the author of that article has to be some trust fund baby who has never actually done anything for himself and just pays for services everywhere. He can't realize that there are other options than going to starbucks to buy your croissant. There's simply a lot of variety and choices in the US, and that includes the bottom of the spectrum which tends to be the most popular, but it doesn't take much of knowing where to look to find quality products. And like you said, there is always the option to cook good meals yourself. The resources are there and easily available, and it isn't nearly as hard as people who don't know better think.

With everything this guy mentions he goes out of his way to compare the inferior lower end products rather than mentioning that in the US he has the option to consumer something else.

I can't wait for when they get invaded and we hear their cries for help, only to say no.

We saved their asses in WWI and WWII, and bore most of the cost of their defense throughout the Cold War, and still do to some extent today.

And every time we suggest they should shoulder more of their own defense burden they call us warmongers.

ETA: Hell, they won't even defend themselves against these Muslim invaders, much less Russia, etc.

If they had had to pay the real costs of their defense all these years, they would not have been able to afford their so-called superior social programs, which really aren't superior anyway.

America’s demographics play a large part in why our society is the way it is today. You look at countries like Norway, Denmark, Japan, etc (homogeneous populations) and you see pure efficiency and enginuity everywhere. This “Melting-Pot” theory simply isn’t the utopia that progressives try to promote. 25 different cultures hating and opposing one another is somehow supposed to be a good thing?

America was quite the mecca for a time post WW2. Detroit, Cleveland, Flint, Pittsburgh, Columbus, and various upstate NY cities were steel/manufacturing/logistics hubs and the entire country was thriving. The average family could live on the father’s salary alone. Kids could go to good schools and mommy could stay at home. The country had lots of money. What did we do? Pass a shitload of unsustainable entitlement programs, effectively draining our reserve and throwing us into debt. A lot of people throw the Iraq/Afghan wars as the main reason we’re in debt but if it wasn’t for entitlements we could have paid cash for those wars. Combine the unsustainable entitlement programs with about 20% of the American population that absolutely refuses to assimilate; and the crime, court, criminal Justice, rehabilitation, etc costs that go along with such...

Toss on a shitload of illegal immigration and that’s why we aren’t Europe.

Thumbs up. I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter.

And while it may be true that the stuff marketed to the masses in the US is shite and arguably shite compared to comparably marketed stuff in Europe (although, I'd probably dispute that is true across the board), it's become where it's not hard at all to find things in every corner of this great land that is made with as much care and consideration as anything you'd find anywhere in Europe.

In truth, I don't necessarily disagree with most of his assessments. The problem is that each generation of Americans feel more entitled than the generation before. My generation feels more entitled than the one before and the ones after even moreso. This trickles through everything that happens and does.

- Farmers are growing more and more scarce each year due to rising costs of equipment and materials coupled with land prices are becoming to tempting not to just sell and retire.

- Businesses are frowned on for succeeding. One of my buddies has become very liberal and has surrounded himself by crows that squack the same drivel. He posted something yesterday and I responded to get attacked by a dozen idiots. one made mention that profits are nothing more than unpaid wages that should go to the employees. What is the point of putting everything on the line to open a business if your employees deserve all the profits?

- Work ethic and self pride are both going down the drain. It just isn't engrained in kids these days. Why work hard when you can ride the tit or hide amongst others and skate by? Why do something well when you can get by doing it poorly? My nephews (10 and 11) are just as guilty of this. They have no value of money in the slightest and take no pride in anything they do and that is their parents' fault.

So you’ll rather be taken out with a bullet from some ptsd lunatic while attending church or shopping at a grocery store

It's a fact, soy boy. Leave if you don't like it. There'll be someone waiting in line to take your place. They're probably already here because they risked their life to illegally immigrate. But you're right, America sucks.

Most of Europe is committing cultural suicide via open borders. Progressivism and political correctness have doomed a once great civilization. Maybe England can save itself with Brexit but that's questionable.
