It's more Urban/Rural divide in the rest of the U.S, that is often coastal/inland, but now always; ATL/BHM etc.

This. Few U.S. states have anything like the cultural diversity of Louisiana outside its highly populated urban centers. Seriously, what state has more distinct cultures living within its rural communities than does Louisiana? When I was in HS, Katrina displaced a large population of Chalmations to my community. Despite both being from the same state, and allegedly speaking the same language, we could not understand a lot of the Chalmette kids when they talked. While that's an extreme example, there's tons of distinct micro-regional accents all over the place. Baton Rouge folks don't sound like Walker folks don't sound like Maurepas who don't sound like Gonzales who don't sound like Lutcher, etc. That's a really tiny area to have so many different accents!
Another factor that drives regional animosity in Louisiana is the structure of its state government. In Louisiana, all power in the state is centralized under the Governor. The Parishes have very little authority and little ability to tax their populations, so they must all go to Baton Rouge to beg for money. As such, the different regions of the state are constantly competing with one-another for tax money from the state, and thus see each other as obstacles to what they each want to accomplish.
If Baton Rouge wants a bridge, they must convince Lake Charles to give up the bridge that they want, New Orleans to give up the bridge that they want, and Shreveport to give up the improvements to the loop that they want. There's never enough money to go around, so each region has to form coalitions to get what they want and stop their rival areas from getting what they want.
In Texas, the state government is highly decentralized. Most taxes are collected and spent at the local level, and the state government is relatively hands-off. As such, the regions of Texas operate with a lot more autonomy and thus with significantly less animosity for one-another because they don't have to fight each other in Austin for critical resources. They may compete for outside investment, but most of their basic government functions are handled in-house at the local level.

My football coach in HS said south of Vidalia they don't know how to run the football (implication lesser men)
Whoever downvoted HOF coach go f yourself
"all they want to do in south Louisiana is dance all day and throw the football on space"

I know the refineries boost the economy down here, but damn if it doesn't look like Chernobyl along the river.
I visited outside of Monroe a few weeks ago for a work, and one of the nicest things was not one refinery in sight, no flatbills and white oakleys weaving in an out of traffic.
Just rolling hills and pine trees

Paper mills smell a lot worse than chemical plants, but that's like comparing shite vs skunk and arguing over who smells better.
Even within South Louisiana, there's several different distinct areas. In Southeast Louisiana along the Mississippi River (and in Southwest Louisiana around Lake Charles) is all of the chem plants and refineries.
In much of the rest of south Louisiana west of the Mississippi River, it's mostly swamp, sugarcane fields, rice fields, or crawfish farms.
The north shore is predominantly pine forests and subdivision sprawl yielding to pine plantations once you get away from the lake.
South of New Orleans is essentially marshland to the gulf.

Honestly, it goes both ways. Some people from South LA are buttheads as are some from North. My brother-in-law is from St. Martinville (btw, one of the friendliest people you would ever meet) and when he and my sister lived in Shreveport briefly, some people here were kind of stand offish once they heard his accent. Enough that they eventually moved to Mandeville. My two cents, it's the old money people in Shreveport that can be that way, no idea about South LA.

Why not? Can’t be because they do things like go galavanting along the fencerow to the stand at 3:30-4 in the afternoon to shoot Bambi if he happens to walk out an hour after dark?

I could see how that would be the case due to its massive size and few population centers. I can't imagine folks living in Barrow to have anything in common with those in Juneau.

Catholics like to eat, drink, and be merry in public. Their church fairs feature gambling, live rock n roll music, and tons of booze. I have yet to go to a wedding in North Louisiana that wasn't dry, and none of them had a band or any dancing at the reception.
Baptists do drink, but they tend to do so at home, as being a dunken lout in public is heavily frowned upon. North Louisiana has some serious "footloose" people in many parts of the state, but it's not as bad as it used to be when many of the parishes up there were still dry.
I'm not a Catholic or a Baptist, I just know that we like to eat, drink and have a good time as well. Maybe some Baptist don't like to be merry in public like they are a Hobbit or something, but I haven't noticed it on a scale big enough to think the entire part of the state in general is that way.

This argument just doesn't hold up, I'm sorry. You've been to a couple weddings in the last 10 years and they've been dry. It sounds like you just a have some boring friends. I've gone to I dont know how many weddings and I can't think of a single one that wasn't wet, maybe there have been some but I can't remember. But I have never been to one that didn't have dancing. Zero.

The real reason for animosity on the part of South Louisiana towards the north is truly just the disconnect
There it is. That I can get behind. But the argument that North LA doesn't like to eat, drink and have fun is just ridiculous.

Let's be honest, coonasses tend to only go so many places:
South Louisiana where they're from
Biloxi to gamble
Gulf Shores/Florida Panhandle to the beach
Orlando for Disneyworld
Houston for work
Atlanta for a football game
Gatlinburg or Breckenridge (if they're bougie) to ski
That's pretty much it. There's a lot of folks from South Louisiana who have probably visited Paris or Rome more times than they've ever been to Monroe, Alexandria, or Shreveport. It might as well not exist in their minds.
Sounds like it's the people from South LA that need to get out more and have some fun, not the other way around.

I don’t know about hate, but as a native of Baton Rouge, I can count on two hands the number of times I’ve been north of Alexandria within the State.

They do, but they just do it with family and friends at home rather than at a bar or outdoor festival. So, as an "outsider", you don't get to experience it. In South Louisiana, everyone parties out in public, so outsiders can access the party and become a part of it.

South Louisiana folks absolutely need to experience the wider world. There is zero argument here. I think one reason that they don't is that they simply have so much fun where they are. As such, there's only so much they "need" from the outside world, and they know where to get it.
I can't tell you how frustrating it was growing up when people were telling me "there's a big world out there!" and "you need to get out of South Louisiana for a change!" Then, when I asked where I should go, literally the only places were Houston, Dallas, Gulf Shores, or Biloxi. I'm sorry, Houston is terrible in almost all the same ways as South Louisiana. I don't understand why anyone would live there for any reason other than work.
If you don't want to live in Houston or South Louisiana, then South Louisiana people think you're some kind of alien.
