Eastern Shore rocks - Point Clear is my happy place.
Also Mobile isn't as bad as people make it out to be, and most of my friends that do live there make it to the beach on a quite lot of weekends during the summer.

I think Mobile is great. I like the midtown area in particular.

There are a lot of great waterway access points - much more so than Louisiana.
It reminds me a lot of the low country. You have the Bay and lots of rivers (Dog River) that can lead you to the Bay or the ocean in no time.
The town itself...well...Midtown, Downtown, and the Spring Hill college area are all nice.

I stopped to eat there on my way back from Florida Monday. It's pretty decent, makes you realize how shitty Louisiana is.

Mobile has a great mayor, doesnt flood, and a promising future. Not sure if they have a strawberry festival though. Sounds like a horrible place.

If I wasn't concerned by a bunch of yokels trashing it up, I'd be promoting the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. It's the most biodiverse ecosystem in all of North America and absolutely fricking stunning to paddle down.

Mobile is in way better shape than NOLA, Memphis, Baton Rouge, Montgomery and even Birmingham.

Why does Mobile, AL always promote that “We live on the beach”
It sounds better than "Come sit in our traffic on the way to and from the beach you'd prefer to go to."

Birmingham is on the upswing, but not at the same rate as Mobile.
Luckily for Mobile, Pritchard and it's voters are not part of Mobile. Unlike other small or mid-size Southern citizens a large percentage of the least common denominator is off on its on city - Pritchard, which is a miniature version of Detroit.

People get triggered by the most trivial things....

Yes, it is. Imagine Mobile if there were no Pritchard. They beg all the time for Mobile to annex them, if that ever happens, Mobile is toast.

Who runs that shithole? A two decade traffic jam. Four lanes that funnel into two.
Only 50 minutes for me from Lakefront Airport to Orange Beach and more importantly 50 minutes back on Sunday

quote:Birmingham Metro is. And downtown Birmingham is becoming a great place, but it is still losing residents to the suburbs. In fairness the city's boundaries are weird. Kind of like how you can live in Old Metairie and be in downtown Nola in 10 minutes - people in Mountain Brook can do the same thing.
I thought Birmingham was "booming"?
