Why does Kimmel always sign off with that Matt Damon comment?

"Sorry we didn't have time for Matt Damon" or whatever.
Just curious.

Because you start too many threads.

Because his girlfriend made a video about fricking Matt Damon.

I think he ran out of time once when he had Damon on and when he tried to get him back to compensate, Damon told him to piss off. So now he jokes about it every time.

I know. Just fricking with op.
And Sarah Silverman is gross. Matt can do better.

'You want to know what happened? I was doing a particularly lame show; I think my guests were a ventriloquist and a guy in a monkey suit. We were wrapping it up, and there was a smattering of applause in the audience.
"'I was having kind of a low moment, and I just said, "My apologies to Matt Damon; we ran out of time". My producer was right off camera and he doubled over laughing. It was just gallows humor. Nobody else got the joke. But it made us laugh, so we started doing it every night. I have no idea why I said you; it could have been anybody'."

Me too. Only cause she definitely knows her way around a penis.

Ex-girlfriend. Not only is she a huge bitch, but a huge junky as well.
Did I say that out loud?

This is one of my favorite running gags on television. As someone already posted, he randomly said it at the end of a show as a joke, and it sort of stuck from there. He started saying it every night, and it eventually morphed into a fake hatred between Kimmel and Damon.
Then Sarah Silverman, dating Kimmel at the time, went on as a guest and aired this video.
Kimmel, one-upping them, released this response, which makes me laugh every time I watch it.
At one point, Damon "takes over" the show as the host and uses the entire show to mock Kimmel. My absolute favorite is the explanation of why he hates Damon so much: Kimmel tried out for every Matt Damon role and got rejected.
There's plenty of other bits between the two of them, but those are some of my favorites.

Holy shite, that video proves that Matt Damon invented the Gangham Style dance. Crazy.
