Why does it seem there is angst towards the idea of luxury pickup trucks?

There have been more and more luxury features on trucks going back almost 20 years but even today some auto journalists act surprised and a little bothered by the features ‘in a pickup truck’. People commenting on articles moan about people using loaded trucks as daily vehicles, etc.

Base model trucks are still available, and considering inflation many prices today aren’t that far out of line with stuff years ago.

Lack of manual transmissons? Most cars don’t offer those anymore either (sadly).

I'm not into that scene. To me, a truck is something that can get dirty or beat up and I not care about. If I'm dropping that kind of coin on a vehicle, I'm getting something fast and fun to drive.

I take it you've never driven GMC with a duramax in it.

There are places were real nice loaded trucks are just NOT needed. Sure would love to buy a nice one which I could pay with cash. BUT, for me, taking a 50K truck in the fields, woods, just don't make any sense. They just about took out a bed of trucks. WTF? I can't even put a sheet of plywood in the back without it sticking out pass the tailgate.

As for as a work truck, one would have to special order one. Then they still want 32K+ for a 4x4. WTF? Just knowing it will be ripped apart in three years. Sure.

So, myself, I will just run my old 2004 Dodge 2500 till it dies. And then find another beater down the line.

Oh, lets not even talk about what the crazy insurance is on theses high dollar trucks are.

If I had to drive a truck I'd want some luxury and tech in it.

POS too. Ran them and ran 396's Dang Hemi was a POS after running a 396. Try to run a old Dodge with the 5.9L Cummins. Even after 200K, it still has the pep as new. The new diesels suck the big one too!

You haven't priced a new nicely loaded truck in a very long time you dolt.

For a loaded out diesel you are talking 70k -80k plus

I'm not gonna lie, I love my loaded F150. I use it to haul stuff, and take it out in the woods. I also love the cooled seats, nice stereo, and the fact that the truck will park itself, and basically drive itself on the interstate.

The bed of the truck is no less functional just because you have some creature comforts on the inside.

To each his own though.

What a arse. Like a kid bringing out name calling. Been two years I went truck shopping. Best price for a GAS truck was just over 50K. Neighbor bought a Dodge 3500, ordered for $56k not 6 months ago and that has diesel, loaded.

Mine is too. Power windows and locks, ac, radio and a bed liner is about all that I require on a truck.

I honestly kind of wish mine had vinyl floors like my 81 Sierra did

I drive an F350 and it’s loaded out because I spend several hours a day in it and occasionally drive out of state and I want something comfortable. I also work the shite out of it by pulling trailers, boats, equipment and the bed gets full on a regular basis. Not every nice truck doesn’t work. I’ve always worked them hard and when I’m done every few years I go get another.

I don’t put them in the woods. I have four wheelers and a flatbed for that.
