Why does it say Slidell on I-10 East in New Orleans?

It should be Biloxi or Mobile. Slidell is a 30,000 population village. It doesn't say I-10 West "Metry" or "Kenner bra," (both substantially larger than Slidell) but Baton Rouge.

I think it's because you're about to cross a body of water. It's the same reason it says "Laplace" when you're crossing the Spillway.

Because the drug traffickers driving the interstate would like to know how far until their final destination.

Because Slidell is at the crossroads where 10 meets 12 and 59.

Slidell is the last town before the I-59/10 split.
And also, getting to slidell means you can relax a little, there are fewer bullets to dodge once out of nola

Slidell is at least as important as Biloxi, Mobile, Baton Rouge, or New Orleans.
Just not to me.

Why does I-49 North at Lafayette say Opelousas and not Shreveport?

Because the word "Opelousas" confuses the out of town folks.

Right? It should say Texarkana

30k? Maybe in the city limits but Slidell’s true population is closer to 100k.
