It's very necessary when explaining to out of state people.

Said no one ever... not from NOLA. Or Tennessee Williams. And he died, old as frick, in the 80's.

NOLA isn't a major city. It's a novelty that you visit just for the hell of it, because why the frick not?

Please. What is there to do in Baton Rouge? Retired people sit around and die there because there is nothing to do and no place to go.

Born there and don't believe I do as described. If the remnant of my accent is revealed and asked about, then yes, I speak to it

The same reason cajuns make sure people know that they are Cajun. It's stupid.

I bought it New Orleans about 5 years ago and it was the smartest investment I’ve ever made. If I had picked ANY other city in this state I would’ve been lucky to see half that return.

I live in thibodaux. Have since 09. When people ask me where I’m from I say Kenner. It wouldn’t be genuine to say otherwise.

They are proud survivors of the crime wave, and want everyone to know what awesome mayors they've enjoyed. Definite bragging material.

Worked for a while on fishing boat, right outside of Delacroix. One of my favorites.

As someone who has lived every part of the U.S. except the Mid-West, I find it is NY'ers who like to say, "I'm from NY!" But it's never Manhatten. Always Brooklyn or northern NJ.

Best example

I'm from NY
