You do realize you could just block someone from showing up on your newsfeed? That's what I do to fb friends that I like....just don't like their numerous political/race/whatever posts.
I do that whenever someone posts baby pics

This is what I do most often, but if somebody is just a total idiot and constantly race bating people, I don't want anything to do with them so I'll unfriend. If a friend is constantly posting about their obsession with their cat, I may find it annoying, but I'll just hide their posts.

My rule is, if we don't communicate for a year and a half, you're kicked off my Facebook.
I personally think it's idiotic that people have 400 plus friends. Why, other than laziness, would you keep people on there that you don't talk to anymore? Chances are, if I don't maintain some sort of contact, there's a reason for it.

I agree with this policy.

Every so often, I'll notice that a former facebook friend has unfriended me. It usually comes as a shock because I'm not friends with people that I've never known or been friendly with. I also don't post a lot so it is odd that someone would go out of their way to unfriend me.
Sucks to be you.
I keed I keed.

I will have to do that. That's genius!

I don't either....as long as their baby is cute.
I should have posted a pic of my husband's new jeep after he got it lifted and new wheels/tires. You would have liked it.

You are the person I was hoping would respond. So how do you go about unfriending people that you don't communicate with in over a year and a half? Do you see a post from them and think "I haven't talked to that person in a while" and unfriend them? Or do you actually go through your list and "clean it up."

I'm the same way, but I'll usually add former coworkers after I change jobs.

Usually about once or twice a year I clean it up, generally the same time I throw out all the old useless stuff that builds up in my house. I was a bit of a hoarder in my younger days and I've seen what it does to adults so it's kind of a cleansing thing for me.
