Something tells me if you extrapolated that logic into other races/genders, you would not be making the point you think you're making.
So it looks like around 31% of the US adult population are white men. 60% of those in management positions are white men, 62% of lawyers are, 63.3% of doctors are, 65% of elected officials are, 71% of architects and 74% of engineers. Us poor white men are soooooo put upon in the United States.....

Close to 20% of presidents were Harvard grads LOL. Old white family fortunes do not send their sons to Harvard for an education they send them to Harvard to join the club.

frick ALL the Ivy League schools. I think big state schools are better… better experience, better students (not talking about book smart here), better value, etc. The Future Value of a Dollar equation or Lagrangian equation works just the same at Auburn as it does at Harvard.
It’s actually insane how stupid some of you are
I am certain it is possible to find examples of Harvard graduates who are not fantastically wealthy and successful. It is doubtful that they are as easy to find as graduates of even the best state colleges and universities LOL...there is nothing wrong with a 4 year degree from even a small directional state school....it will most likely mean a pile more earnings over the course of a lifetime for the person who holds it. To pretend it would be a better value, on average, with a degree from Harvard in the hands of a connected Harvard graduate who can say their own name without mumbling is ludicrous...

Here's a quick hint: there are tons of schools on Harvard's level academically. The only advantage Ivies have is the ingrained, cliquish networks of elite alumni.
There are a handful of schools that are at Harvard's level academically; not "tons". Now there are "tons" of students across a bunch of schools like LSU, Alabama, Valdosta St, etc that could have academic success at Harvard. When you get into the levels of research of schools like Harvard, MIT, Stanford, etc you will find that they are on an entirely different level.
Yes, it is fun to poke fun at Harvard, but Harvard still has really smart people that attend and teach there.

It has never been what you know, it has always been who you know. Merit has never meant anything in this country until a small number of un-connected white men found themselves vying for jobs and college admissions with women and other minorities and all of a sudden we are a merit based society LOL. For about 600 years western civilization educated the dead eyed slack jawed frick sons of the connected elite to the exclusion of anyone else...merit be damned its always been about who you knew....

Part of the appeal of any of the Ivy League schools is definitely the relationships you build with your classmates.

I believe this was the first time in five pages that this word was mentioned, and you're absolutely right. Forget the degrees, the networking, the nostalgia, etc. The reason the top schools truly set themselves apart from an institutional standpoint is research.

In my more fatigued moods, I will agree with your sentiment. I have seen and been directly impacted by decisions made in the corporate and academic world where merit (meaning quantifiable achievements/labors accomplished) was deemed less important than familiarity or shared background with a candidate.
Still, I have also been blessed to observe moments where people who came from unexpected places and difficult backgrounds truly did reap the rewards of their sincere labors (my father was such a man). While the game may be rigged to favor a particular group, it is also the case that not everyone in positions of power were gifted their chairs as a birthright. Besides, and good Lord help me, I do love a hardworking, underdog, success story. I am just not going to give up on helping someone like that achieve a dream.

People go to Harvard to form relationships. Full stop.

Same question should be asked anywhere in the Ivys or the near Ivy's outside of the deep south.

White liberal men are not included in white men stats.

You mean nepotism or cronyism.

Go frick yourself.
You’re clearly impressed by expensive shingles.
My dad was a lawyer who graduated from UTx Law School. He loved whipping the arse of NY based Harvard law grads who would come to Texas for trials.

Have you ever interacted with one single person that went to Harvard or is this just what you heard on One News Network or whatever it’s called?
I know several. Very intelligent and are beyond far left when it comes to politics.
