Why do we follow non-daylight savings?

Can someone explain why we do this? I don’t know anyone who likes it, so why can’t we just not do it? Getting dark at 5pm is the worst.

ETA: I meant to say non-DST. I like the summer extended daylight and despise the fall where we lose the hour of daylight.

Can’t explain why it still occurs and won’t defend it, and it does appear to be something that could go away sooner rather than later.

DST sucks. Same hours of daylight per day whether on DST or nonDST. Get up early if you want to experience more daylight per day.

This isn’t the issue. It supposedly now has to do with light in the morning for school children waiting for busses.

I can’t stand the winter when it gets dark at 5.

Of course, these times vary the most across a time zone depending upon how far north or south you live.

This is a confusing thread now that OP edited the title to include a double-negative following multiple responses to the original.

I love when it gets dark early more.

I enjoy midnight actually being midnight
