Well, I’m heterosexual, so, yeah, I’m proud to admit I don’t understand or care about musical theater.

It’s really not necessary to publicly announce how insecure you are in your heterosexuality

Quite secure, but thanks for inquiring. Only homos and drama queens give 2 shits about musical theater, this isn’t exactly a hot take.

This is an amazingly bizarre melt

It’s both bizarre and 5+ years too late. I figure that either you should know know about him by 2017 or (based on your cultural preferences) you never know who Lin Manuel Miranda is.

Just because he race swapped the founding fathers? Thats what cultural impact has become? I remember when white actors were allowed to race swap. Black face? Not a great cultural impact idea was it?

Neither is Hamilton. Quit giving the diversity crew your hard earned funds. Youll come to regret it. Exactly like the black face crew has today

Everyone talks about Hamilton, but forgets that He is the reason we don't talk about Bruno.

You sure do seem to care an awful lot about making sure that everyone knows that you're not homosexual. Sounds like there's something that you're a little ashamed of to me.

I don't care about Lin Manuel Miranda.

I didn't particularly enjoy Hamilton or Into the Heights.

As far as acting, he’s weak. He was upstaged by others in Hamilton and he was not good in His Dark Materials

I know it was his baby, but he was the weakest singer and actor in the entire cast. He brought down Mary Poppins as well. Didn’t hold a candle to DVD.

Wildly talent as a ditty writer but that’s about it.

Oh, just a ditty writer, and that's about it?

You people.

In fairness, he admits that acting isn't his strong point, but the guy is a successful composer, lyricist, writer, and producer. You can act like he's just written a couple of commercial jingles if you want, but you're stupid for doing so.

Ditty may be too harsh.

His composing and writing is fantastic.

He has a weak singing voice.

By the way. I was making sure I spelled it right and apparently diddie means a titty. Didn’t know that and I now need to rename a few playlists.

I didn't even notice.

Yes, you're correct. He doesn't have a very strong signing voice either. If I'm being honest, I'm not even that big of a fan, although I acknowledge his talent.

I really enjoy Moana. Encanto was just OK in my opinion. While I appreciate Hamilton, it was a one and done for me. In the Heights is kind of the same for me too.

Nah, since then there has been "Wicked", "Lion King", "Book of Mormon", "Chicago", "Rock of Ages" all that have been more popular than "Cats". That's just off the top of my head that I know have made way more money despite having shorter runs than Cats. There is a new "must see" Broadway show every few years now

Chicago, maybe I can buy, but that's solely because a movie that was far more popular than the musical was made-- but the others are jokes.

Cats as a *musical* was incredibly large. Way way way larger in the zeitgeist than rechurned stage shows that were derivitive of movies, spawned low rent failed movies, or niche crossovers from popular TV.

The two shouldn't be confused.

In short- yeah, it did. The race swapping of founding fathers and such is pretty immaterial-- like it or not, it was immense.

That said, the book it was based off of was far better-- one of the better biographies of the last 50 years-- but that form is even farther from the popular imagination than Broadway usually is.

This isn't giving the Diversity Crew anything, other than acknowledgement that they made the most popular crossover to pop culture musical in a generation-- whether it be for good or ill, is up to the viewer-- but the impact is pretty hard to deny.
