I hear people say I'm going to kill someone then flee to Mexico.
But there's tons of cases of people being sent back to the US to face charges.
Yet the myth prevails.

I don’t know the kind of crowd you hang around, but I’d imagine most people are joking when they say that and haven’t done much research into the logistics of it all.

What if you leave a obvious trail that you go to Mexico, then sneak back to a different part of the US illegally with a false identity?

Because getting a truly new identity is neither cheap nor easy. If you can pull that off, why come back? There are better places in the world to hide.
