i've seen both of those studies. Neither mention that humans are stronger than chimps.
I was wrong about pound for pound being stronger. The average chimp vs average Male the chimp is 1.35x as strong but the muscle fibers are actually the same it's just they have more quick twitch for strength and agility on average and we have more for endurance. Still the biggest a chimp can get is around 135 pounds. It doesn't matter if he is slightly stronger pound for pound he is giving up 150 pounds to most elite athletes and when you throw in the fact a chimp doesn't know how to duck and weave I'm pretty sure as soon as he charges in DC catches him with a roundhouse kick then when hes stunned thinking wtf just happened dc jumps on him takes his back sinks his heels in and either puts him to sleep or snaps his neck.

no clue where your first post is in this thread.

Sounds like we agree that the OP is wrong then?

Unless you agree with the following

quote:

Any adult Male human with any martial arts training would frick a chimp up.

Ok, so you've officially went from

to

ok I might have been a little hyperbolic with that statement but the point stands if you are an above average Male human athletically who has a decent amount of real martial arts training (BJJ,boxing, kickboxing, muay tails, etc.) I feel you have a good shot at taking the chimp out. I'm not talking a 5'6 140 pound white belt, but a guy who's 6'2 190 been grappling and kickboxing for 5 years? Yeah I'm taking that guy over the 135 (and that is reallllly stretching it for a chimp) 4 ft tall stupid ape. He is getting caught coming in by a really powerful punch or kick guaranteed, and after that It depends how fast the chimp can react and how fast the guy can get his hands on the chimps neck and snap it

ok, so we are on the same page. I said earlier an elite fighter could land a haymaker like we see in many MMA fights.

But they still have that gene muscle in their jaws allowing them to bite through goddamn bricks if they wanted.

Jon Jones better land one early because if that chimp jumps on him and bites, it's game fricking over.

and my argument is because it is going to run in like the wild animal that it is, a jon jokes roundhouse kick is almost guaranteed to land. And I think we all know what happens to a 135 pound chimp with that much kinetic energy hitting its head. It's getting a concussion I would almost guarantee

you're forgetting a few key components here. Chimps body mass are compacted into their arms. This was in the study. They also lack control of said strength, so when they go to tear at your skin, they are genetically designed to rip said skin clean off the bone. And then as I mentioned above, they have a genetic muscle humans lost millions of years ago in their jaws that allow them to bite....hard. Really hard.

I agree a top tier athlete can maintain when it comes to what we know how to do. But good luck when he's biting you and ripping your skin off at the same time.

you're assuming the chimp is running and not jumping

quote:

A 2006 study found that bonobos can jump one-third higher than top-level human athletes, and bonobo legs generate as much force as humans nearly two times heavier.

also, your slightly above average fighter can't just land a round house like Jones. It's not that easy.

the chimp has great defense but how is that short motherfricker not eating one square in the face coming in? My point is I dont think the chimp ever gets to use his tools against a trained fighter. I think he hits him then chokes or breaks his neck before the chimp realizes what's happening. If the human goes in with the intent to kill he is going to do it quick and efficient

its not very hard to land a kick on something that doesn't know how to dodge ed green if its jumping the fighter can just time his rhythm. And fighters can still kick things like human heads that are 6 feet off the ground. Hes not jumping 12 feet in the air

The baddest man on Earth would get slaughtered in under 20 seconds by an average gorilla.

It would be like a 4 year old trying to fight a grown man.

ETA:

Also a chimp would rip you apart.

So many people act like chimps are some super human creature. A chimp and a silver back are nowhere near the same category

Nope not near 4x stronger. As the study showed about 1.3x. So the chimp is not even twice as strong. I think it’s crazy to think 1 male human would kill 1 male chimp head up but it’s not because of strength. It would be because of biting and blood loss. But 2 huge 300 pound Brock lesnar types could kill 1 chimp i would bet.
