Have rented an Outback for a week and do not get the appeal. Seems like a station wagon. Basically a Legacy with no trunk. You sit lower than an SUV. Interior seemed cheap. 26 mpg hwy. Not a bad “car” but I’d rather sit up higher in a normal SUV.

A friend of mine's dad purchased a Subaru simply because he liked the dog commercials. Knew nothing about the vehicles...
All of their advertising is based on feelings... Like the kid who shaved his head and asked the girl with cancer to the prom, then they go on to say they donate to some cancer foundation...

Lesbians and left wing Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire loonies love Subaru. What are you talking about?

We had one many years ago and it was a lemon for a while. Would die at intermittent times or lose power for no reason. Took a lot of time and money to finally get to the vacuum modulator. Once that problem was corrected, that car was great, but the lingering recollection of the early problem ended any prospect of a Subaru in our garage for decades.
Lately, we have been seeing them and hearing people saying good things about them.
I would consider one, but I have a working truck and no note. :)

subaru is the number one car on the market in terms of safety, fuel, and all around good car.
the stigmata is that you're lesbian if you drive one.

A Subaru killed my grandmother.

don’t think they do. People just like easy jokes, and clowning on Subarus as lesbo wagons is an easy joke.
I was thinking this too

The cars themselves are great. Usually, the reason why they get hate is the type of driver that owns them. I like it that they come with a "visualize world peace" decal from the factory.

I can tell you that my AWD Subaru handles a lot better in the rain than my truck ever did.....

I never had looked it up, but I only found out like a year or two ago that it was a Japanese company. When I say Subaru in my south park Japanese accent it does in fact sound Japanese. I just used to think that because they were more woke and hipster that it was some kind of Nordic brand.

Same reason people hate Jeep owners. It's a status symbol to cruise around with the angry frown headlight cowl and 167 plastic ducks on the dash.
Too bad Subaru has gotten the gray haired lesbian market locked up. They make great cars and the WRX is the shite.
Subaru are well made cars. Jeeps on the other hand are not.

We had one before. Great cars, overall. Generally a good value for the price.

Was coming here to say this. I watch the crash test videos on Tik Tok and the Subaru’s are solid. Would definitely consider one once the wheels fall off my current hoopty.

Never understood this line of thinking...
Obviously, we rarely get snow, but we have a lot ahitty road construction, terrible drivers, and frequent heavy rain.
Although All wheel drive is better than front wheel drive in rainy or bad road conditions, it is not required to be on the road. There are snowy places where they require you to have either All wheel drive or chains when it snows.

They are big on virtue signaling. Maybe that’s why so many libs own them.

I hunt in Colorado and if you drive snowy or icy roads, you are going to see a lot of Subarus
They are also prevalent in Western Pennsylvania due to all the hilly and curvy roads. And the snow in winter.

The wife got a Wilderness Outback last year. We took it on a 10 day, 4,800 mile road trip to see 12 national parks out West. It was a great road trip car. We even camped out of it a few times. That car has been nothing but awesome. I love my truck but if I had to get a car that would be a top contender.

quote:Need vs want. We have an Outback and the AWD was the game changer based on how safe it feels to drive. Everytime I get in a traditional FWD or RWD vehicle I notice a huge diff in handling.
You don't need all wheel drive in South Louisiana. They are mechanically unique.
Also, Subaru's safety and reliability features are top of the line as well.

Used to be cool around 1999: "That's me Subaru Outback"
