re: Why do people act like going to the beach is fun?

With the cost of 30a now it’s much better to just do Caribbean all inclusive. Nothing to haul and let the kids goto the pool if they want

I agree with you in general. I do like beach towns with good bars, restaurants, etc and sitting on a nice elevated waterfront deck is an elite place to have a beer.
When hanging out on the beach itself, I always find that I’m managing a degree of discomfort (heat, sand, etc.). It’s also a chore to haul shite down there, especially with kids.

I carry a backpack cooler. The wife carries a bag with snacks, towels sunscreen etc. The kids carry boogie boards and nets. That is about it.

It depends on how you do it. A set up where you aren’t required to haul an entire wagon with things isn’t bad. A reserved umbrella/cabana on the beach where you only bring towels and kids toys is ideal.
You also need a room with a beach view. It’s just a relaxing vibe.

But I will also say that doing just about anything with young kids is fricking terrible. We have dragged ours all over the world and they have done their best to ruin it. Going to the actual beach or a boat ride with hot kids that don’t want to wear sunscreen or lifejackets has almost broken me
Oh, FFS. It’s your own fault you have pain in the arse rugrats, you’ve raised them to be subhuman hellions.
My kids range from 23-42. I loved every trip and experience I had with them when they were younger. Just got back from a trip with my two grandkids from my oldest, age 8 and 11. Had a blast, can’t wait until I can do it again.
Time marches on, enjoy them while you still can.

I enjoy going to the beach early. Once it starts getting crowded and really hot we head back to the condo pool. My wife and oldest son love the beach and my youngest son and I are pool people.

Y’all set up your own chairs and umbrellas at the beach? Lol

Stop being a poor…you pay the beach chair rental and have your spot and shite setup before you arrive.

It’s cheaper to get a condo in Pensacola beach than grand isle.

beach towns
Yeah they usually are pretty awesome. I just would rather spend time in the town than on the beach.

I never did like the beach itself much but knowing someone with a boat near it is great. Living 10 miles aw3ay now is greater. I hardly ever go but I can when I want to.

Next time go soundside with a boat slip. Bring ior rent a boat. Completely different vibe.

going out in the boat and love myself a sandbar day
This!
Our short Panama City trip was on the way back from visiting friends in Hudson (near Tampa) and we did the boat / sandbar thing over there and had a blast.
Wish I had the extra cash for one of these new e-foils. I’ve been seeing them lately and they look like a blast:

To make up for the pic of a dude riding it:

Sure there are a lot of headaches involved but there is this thing called alcohol you can drink that makes it a lot more fun

It’s a deviation from the daily dross of normal life.
And sure, it also has its own inherent shortcomings.
I wouldn’t waste too much time worrying about.
Focus on personal wellness and don’t invest too much time griping about picayune stuff in this world.

It’s all about the kids

Beach is fun late September early October when heat is gone and kids in school. July August is miserable

Nothing says fun like paying for an overpriced condo, having to sweat your balls off hauling a wagon full of junk down to the beach
There is something called the “low season” you might want to learn about. Good deals on beach front condos and cooler weather. Only suckers go during peak season. That’s you.
