We did interrupt that, helped the Mexicans win, and that’s why we celebrate Cinco De Mayo more than actual Mexicans do.

Because they knew that if they did, the two sides would stop fighting each other and concentrate on that invader. Matter of fact, GB toyed with the idea of invading from Canada, but it never happened.

Naploeon III and his puppet in Mexico, Emperor Maxemillian, openly supported the Confederacy. They couldnt spare equipment or resources due to their own issues in Mexico and the European continent.

The US took them seriously as a potential enemy power in the war. It's why Lincoln sent forces from New Orleans to Texas. More to stop any supply chain than fear of a full blown military invasion.

Nap III got spanked by the Prussians in his own capital five years after Appomattox.

The US Army by war's end was a modern, advanced, and now experienced force. Any other nation would have been crazy or dumb to attempt invasion.

Let's take an invading force into a place where British, French, and Spanish have already gotten their asses kicked a few times, all while the entire nation is armed, entrenched, fortified, mobilized and war-ready. Yeah, no chance they table their differences for a bit to smack the shite out of us.

Because it wasn’t a civil war for control of the country, but a war between two different countries, one of whom admittedly did not recognize the other, but still a war on two different fronts and in two different countries if one invaded to conquer. You’d face two armies at once, and a whole hell of a lot of territory. That’s after you made the journey over the Atlantic and achieved a foothold on either union on confederate soil, or both. Pretty tall order for any military of the day I’d say.

I think there also some European military observers following the Army of Northern Virginia and Grand Army of the Potomac, who reported back to their governments that these two Armies were large, well-equipped, well-lead, and lethal. Along with the logistical problems, the foreign powers didn’t think they could win a war.

Industrialization. Union could still pump out guns cannons and ammo faster than anyone else. Union also had the bodies to handle it too.

That's not true at all. All major Western powers were very concerned and paying attention. The US was a quickly expanding industrial economic power. The South was somewhat backward but provided the bulk of industrial raw material for most of the European textile factories.

In conjunction with the Crimean War, it represents a major modernistic shift in military technology and tactics. It is still studied in military history on a global scale.

It was a big deal in the developed world.

They remembered what happened last time. They've been our bitch ever since. Why attack a country and unite them?

Now, who else was paddling the frick over with balls and a budget?
